To-Do List before Baby Arrival

I started sorting clothes the other night about 7:30.  Opened PK's closet and started digging.  What a nightmare.  It's amazing how many clothes one boy has accumulated.  I told Kris, as with most things, they always look worse before they get better.  The pictures below are "better".  I'm up to 9 months so far.  And now I'm starting to remember that for some reason 9 month clothes are hard to find.  Our tote is pretty sparse compared to the others.

As I've mentioned before I've been buying a lot of clothes anticipating most of PK's to be stained/ruined from his horrible reflux.  About 50/50 were stained.  Mostly the outfits I really loved (and he didn't wear often) weren't stained.  But I couldn't believe the amount of newborn sleepers we had accumulated.  He stayed that size for so long I guess... I had to toss about 15 or so and still have 10-12 with a few I bought new.  We are good on newborn sleepers!  The dresser is full and ready with newborn items.

Diaper bag is packed and ready with hospital outfit
To-do List:

  1. Finish sorting clothes, toss stained items, find a place for totes by size
  2. Replace ceiling fan
  3. Hang curtains (replace cellular blinds with cordless)
  4. Paint/hang book shelves Kris made
  5. Hang name and frame (huge gray frame in picture)
  6. Need to make crib skirt
  7. Need clothes hamper
  8. Paint the green changing station (on dresser) and sew a cover for changing pad to match the bedding
  9. More shelves in closet? Bookshelves? Toy shelves?  Seems like a lot of dead space between the cube organizer and the hanging rod.  I hung like 4-5 things when PK was a baby - today. So I don't see myself taking the time to hang outfits every time they get washed.
  10. Need small lamp/nightstand, trying to decide if I'm going to confiscate PK's
  11. Need baby monitor of some sort, trying to decide if I want to do the video thing this time.  We didn't really use the basic one we had with PK because we shared a wall and I could hear every movement.
  12. Get the safe out of the room? (this shouldn't be my job :))
  13. Prep some frozen meals and/or sort out easy and quick recipes
  14. Try to keep house in a state of non-crazies through the summer?!? (no idea if this is possible)
  15. Get all bills on bill-pay or auto-pay schedule
  16. Get hospital bag ready (I will have soap and shampoo this time!!)
  17. Final decision on a name...
Looking more manageable by the day!  Goal is by 30-32 weeks to be "ready".  The car seat is in the car, the babies bag is packed.  I could be jumping the gun, but I don't want to be miserable/hot trying to finish things up.  I can already tell with the 3rd trimester the energy will be depleting.  I've had to take breaks in the evenings while working on things.

Happenings

The boys loving on Harlow (and showing her their puppies)

Getting some matching outfits. Kris had to cut me off the other day.  He said we didn't need matching ugly Christmas sweaters! what?!?

The shop now has power.  And PK has a couple four wheelers...

This is a new e-cloth (similar to Norwex) that I used to clean my "clean" kitchen counter.  Hmm?? Gross.

Over Memorial Day we went back to Guthrie for a wedding.  There were 12 campers parked in a circle.  It was fun, too bad it rained on us the entire time...

Grandpa Keith and PK at the wedding

When we got back home (on Monday) it was gorgeous.  So we spent some time relaxing outside and playing in the sandbox.

Baby #2 Weeks 24-27

PK on left, baby #2 on right

Due Date: August 27th

Weeks: 27 weeks

Doctor Report: Glucose test today, my blood sugar was low from fasting for my annual health screening at work.  They said not to expect any issues passing.

Gender: BOY

Name: First name has been decided, a middle name has not.

Total Weight Gain: We shall see at my appointment today.  I don't feel like other areas have gained much more besides belly this time.  So hopefully the number isn't jumping up again!

Miss Anything: I was craving a pina colada the other day, but it wore off quickly.

Best Moment this Week: We were eating supper the other night and talking about how the birds poop on things in the backyard (and the side of the house).  PK pipes up: "I don't know what the hell the bird problem is".  We just about died laughing, while he thought he was hilarious... but not quite sure what we were laughing at!

Labor Signs:  Every once in awhile I have to stop from cramping.  But I think it's just him shifting around.

Belly Button in or out: Still in, it will mostly likely lay flat here soon.

Maternity Clothes: Almost all.  A few pieces are technically not "maternity".  But fit as such.  I didn't think I would ever be the person to wear leggings as pants, pregnant or not.  Well, I've broke such rule.  It's a go with a big belly!

Sleep: Good for the most part.  I told Kris the other day when I wake up in the middle of the night I swear this child acts like a pissed off kitten in my stomach.  All directions, all movement, flipping, kicking, punching.  Freaking out.  I don't enjoy waking up in the middle of the night either buddy! :)

Food: No real cravings.  I've noticed my sensitive stomach is back.  Eating smaller portions and eating more frequently.  Big or rich meals make me miserable.

Exercise: I wasn't feeling the greatest last week, so took the week off.  But just treadmill, free weights and a sculpt class if I can wait that long for lunch!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Nesting like crazy!  Around 24 weeks I started cleaning after PK went to bed.  All closets and under sink cabinets upstairs have been cleaned out and organized.  I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor.  My love with Norwex products has been reaching new heights.  I've tossed almost all nasty cleaning products out (except toilet bowl cleaner).  Now just focusing on the baby room.  Next step is organizing clothes.  PK's closet is stuffed... Crazy how many clothes one little boy has gone through.

Happy or Moody: Pretty average most of the time.  My patience runs thinner by the end of the day.

Movement: Reference the above pissed off kitten.  Lots of action.

What I'm Looking Forward To: The anticipation due to all the mentioned action is making me very curious if he is going to be our "hell raiser".  We are preparing ourselves :)

PK Update

Some quotes below I've been writing down over the past couple of months.  This guy is a talker.  I'm not sure if it is the age or the person.  But holy smokes from the time he wakes up until he talks himself to sleep he is talking.

I didn’t get to see you much last night.  Let’s stay home today.

Mommy are you ganoring me?

How’s was your day mommy?

I’m going to rock my baby.

When the baby cracks out of your tummy… (lots of stories)

Me: I have a doctor’s apt today to check out the baby
PK: Can I come and see?
Me: Not today bud, you need to go to school
PK: ok… maybe later we can go to the store
Me: well… probably not…
PK: Cause they’re expensive?

Me: why are all your blankets over there?
PK: bc I’m going to let my babies have them
Me: bud, there is only one baby
PK: Your tummy is big, so there are two babies in there!

PK: What’s that smell? (all the time!!)

My baby brother, his name is going to be Sissy!

Mommy, WHIPSER! MY GUYS ARE SLEEPING!

I fell climbing up the swing set.  I not supposed to do that.  It made my nose bleed.  Then. diarrhea.  (it didn’t, no idea where this came from!)

He had a gymnastics show at the end of the "season" at school.  He has been participating once a week since October.  We weren't sure how it would go.  As you can see he got up there.  About the time I looked away the little guy beside him starting sobbing.  This then prompted PK to start sobbing.  Pretty soon they were both crying for their mommies.  As the little girls all down the line kept performing :) ahh such fun!
We had a "muffins for mom" breakfast at his school today to celebrate Mother's Day.  It was pretty cute and fun to eat breakfast with him.  As you can see above he loves me because I take him to McDonalds.  We have only been there one time.  So I'm unsure where this came from!  He asks every time we drive by if we can go, so I guess he is trying to get me to go again!

My Niece is the Cutest!

Hahahaha!!  Big brother is such an ornery, loving guy!  "Why don't you want my loves?"

Baby #2 - 23 Week Update!

Due Date: August 27th

Weeks: 23 weeks

Doctor Report: On track, no issues, measuring good and heartbeat good

Gender: BOY

Name: We have one picked out!  Early in the game, I know.  It's a family name and we are slowly telling people.  As long as Kris' dad doesn't tell you first... :)

Total Weight Gain: I'm up 20 pounds already.  Ufda.  My body feels it.

Maternity Clothes: Oh yeah.  All of them basically at this point.  Plus early in the game I picked up a few maxi dresses, they are stretching pretty good and a lot more comfortable than maternity dress pants! A few tight t-shirts get worn.  But otherwise, all maternity

Sleep: Good!  Got my pregnancy pillow going on and I've been sleeping awesome since... Let's not jinx that!

Food: Cravings of pizza from the 1st trimester have dove off.  Mostly eating normal.  EXCEPT a fudgesicle after PK goes to bed... shh.. don't tell him. Lots of granola bars, cereal, fruit, peanut butter sandwiches.

Exercise: Down to walking every day for half hour-45 minutes.  Maybe a sculpt class or two a week.  Otherwise, taking it easy.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Just a big belly.  Maybe a tad bit emotional... Mostly those emotions
are anger if it pops up.  I'm quick to blow a fuse lately...  Mess with me or my family and you just might hear about it (or the honking!)

Movement: Lots and LOTS of movement.  This guy is going to give us a run for our money.  Like enough action that his little legs and feet are already punching through where you can see with your eyes the movement.  Oye, he's a mover and shaker! I don't remember actually seeing movement until I was much further along with PK.  These little kicks and punches are strong.  And he's a low guy.  Hanging out between my hips is his favorite spot.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Seeing him.  I'm imagining a replica of baby PK.  I can't wait.

Pregnancy Update

Feeling pretty good lately.  Growing every day.

At that in-between point that isn't too bad!

Beginning sucked, end will most likely suck (predicted to be HOT summer!) but hanging tough with these middle weeks.

We have a name picked out, room coming together, car seat ordered, mountains of clothes ordered.  I'm going to be ready for this baby come hell or high water!! (but please for the love of pete do not come early like your brother... we might look like we are ready but we are not ready for your presence)

The first time in months I actually felt "put together" for work!

Progress is being made folks and it makes my heart happy! :)  We got a new rocking chair and I've been sitting in there at night rocking him. :)
