Hey, Hey!

So I bet you've been wondering why I'm not posting now that I have "nothing going on".

Well, truth is, we've been relaxing.  And still working!  We finished the inside of the rental house the very last day of September at 9pm :)  We then spent the next few weekends working on the exterior.  Touching up the exterior paint, painting around the trim of the new windows and working on the shed.  Kris spent a weekend tearing off the old roof off of the shed while I painted outside.  The next weekend Brandon, Zach, Nathan and a friend from work helped him put on a new roof (no more leaking!).
We spent a weekend in KC for my birthday and I got a new car!

We spent the next weekend trimming trees at the rental.  I've had sewing and craft projects going on at home during the week.

So we've still been busy!  And also a few nights of turning the bed heater on and cuddling for awhile.

More updates/pictures to come!

Copycat

We went to SEP's homecoming parade last week.  Got a little bit of candy but was mostly scared of the people beside us!!

Hmm... I wonder why PK insists on wearing his hat high on his head?  Any guesses?

Who me?  My hat is fine mom!

Just kidding, I'm a cheeser (when he wants to be, on his own terms of course)

We are working on getting dressed our-self.. Work in progress :)

School Pictures!

It's been one of those weeks.

We pushed through though.

We are handing over keys to the rental house tonight.  Needless to say last night was a late night getting home for us.  Kris told me we had got school pictures waiting at home!  (First ones, ever :)).  I'd told the teachers that I would consider it a win if he was looking towards the camera.

Win!

See below :)

Kris thinks we need to buy all 10 sheets they sent home.  I don't know if we need to...  But he is the only kid not hamming it up in his class picture.  So we will need to get one of those to show him in the future!

Getting Out!

Last week we had tickets to Eric Church with Dwight Yokum opening.  It was a great show!  We had a blast.  Kris said it was the best concert he had been to.

Dwight had lots of bling on! (and then my phone died)(and so did his)

We went camping last weekend and Friday night we went down to Oskaloosa to see my dad race the old sprint cars again.  PK had no nap at daycare so he cashed out on the way down.  (He's wearing Kris's work sunglasses :))

Little bit blurry and not many people there watching!

My favorite race fan.  He doesn't look impressed but he had a good time!

Other Updates

Living Room

New closets/bedroom/bathroom doors

Bathroom is done; let's be honest here.  I didn't exactly try to get some good "before" pictures of the bathroom.  The light was burned out... The rest of the house was dirty and scary.  I wasn't going to step in there to take some pictures.  It was quoted as being "remodeled"... ha!  They put in a new sink base in and called it good I think.  We had to put in a new sink and toilet.  Replaced the flooring and some fresh paint made a huge difference.  We also installed a fan/light combo.  I think we chose the hottest day of the summer for Kris to be up in the attic to install.  Emotions might have ran high that day trying to figure out the wiring!  Me: in the bathroom yelling up instructions from the diagram.  Kris: sweating in the attic messing with wires.  Multiple failed attempts.  Hours later: Suddenly he finds the wires that I had been describing! Minutes later: It worked! :)

Storage in bathroom

We all have break chairs at the rental now! :)  Mostly because it had been too hot to eat outside; so we'd been eating camping style gathered in the kitchen.  'Tis the life.

This might not look like progress.  Tools tend to get shifted from room to room as we work.  But we got the appliances installed in the laundry room.

Closet in laundry room when walking in.

Front Room! (We are Making Progress!!)

Wearing his "I'm a little farmer" hat on the way to ... wait for it.  Menards!

This was what the front room looked like when we bought it.  Not good at all.  Carpet was horrible.  This room is actually the only room that has old windows that haven't been replaced.  At some point we will need to replace them but from the looks of the window sills and walls they don't leak.  Needless to say we weren't real excited about this room.  And hadn't touched it until the past couple of weeks.

Lots of windows.

Down at the end is PK's "office".  Lots of lost items have been found in that little closet.  It's filled to the brim with toys and tools that he has confiscated.

And how it looks today!!  So awesome!  This would be my favorite room if we lived here.  Lots of sunlight and nice and warm :)

We aren't sure what that box (hole in the wall down there) was used for.  There is an outlet in there.  We need to either put a grate over it or paint some boards and cover up.

The carpet looked purplish in the pictures (phone quality) but this is closer depiction of what it looks like.  I must say I'm pretty proud of my carpet laying skills too :) (Kris was listening to the Iowa/Iowa State game in the kitchen and not participating much; we've determined it's better for him to stay at a distance unless needed while I'm working :))
