Baby #2 Update - Week 36

The boys were gone last weekend.
So I read a couple books, got my toes done and relaxed!

Due Date: August 27th

Weeks: 36 weeks

Doctor Report: Everything looks good, not dilated, cervix good

Gender: BOY

Name: First name has been decided, a middle name has not.

Total Weight Gain: Not looking (I lie, I looked today... and I'm pretending like I didn't)

Miss Anything: Sleeping in a comfortable position!

Best Moment this Week: Getting everything done!  List is 95% checked off (anything that is left does not NEED done before baby arrival)

Labor Signs:  Some pretty strong contractions and/or cramping every once in awhile.  Thought he was trying to make an appearance this morning but the activity died off.

Belly Button in or out: Completely flat

Maternity Clothes: Anything that fits.  Mostly dresses at work.

Sleep: I wish.

Food: Still eating.  Avoiding salty foods at this point.  Anything chocolate or fruit goes over well.

ExerciseNone.  I'm actually not doing anything!  And it's killing me ever so slowly.  I bought some new tennis shoes for my post baby walks.

Pregnancy SymptomsDefinitely can tell I'm pregnant.  Nothing new to report.

Happy or Moody: Morning - happy, afternoon - average, evening - moody

Movement: Still lots of movement.  Lots of pressure up on my right side under my ribs.  I keep telling Kris and PK that's where he is trying to escape.  I have to put pressure on the area to get him to calm down and curl back up.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Not being pregnant! (still the case ;))

Baby #2 Update - Weeks 34&35!

35 weeks?? WHAT?!?

IF we make it through this week I will have been the most pregnant I've ever been!

35 Week comparison

Due Date: August 27th

Weeks: 35 weeks

Doctor Report: Everything looks good, no concerns. Head down and should stay down now.

Gender: BOY

Name: First name has been decided, a middle name has not.

Total Weight Gain: Not looking

Miss Anything: Moving like a normal person, reaching my toes

Best Moment this Week: I think PK can sense things are changing (and not just the big belly :)).  I've been getting lots of extra cuddles and loving from my little man.  Anytime he can get some cuddles, he takes it!

Labor Signs:  Nope

Belly Button in or out: Completely flat

Maternity Clothes: Anything that fits.  Mostly dresses at work.

Sleep: Waking often, going to the bathroom every two hours most nights, on the hour.  10, 12, 2, 4, 6.  Some nights I don't sleep at all and some nights I sleep like a rock in between getting up.

Food: Smaller meals, more frequent.  No strong feelings one way or another with most food.

ExerciseNone.  The humidity has me too scared to move for fear of getting dehydrated.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Arms tingling most of the day, back pain, lots of tightness in my belly.  Sounds fun, right? :)  Last week I was on a hormonal rollercoaster.  Feeling better this week.  If you see my chin with a fresh zone of pimples watch out, that's all hormones and it ain't pretty!

Happy or Moody: Morning - happy, afternoon - average, evening - moody

Movement: Yes, lots of kicking/punching.  You would think he is running out of room, but no, making it work.  He's had the hiccups a few times :)

What I'm Looking Forward To: Not being pregnant!

Baby #2 Update - Weeks 32&33

32 weeks.  This is how I look when I get home.  Hair up, belly out. No cares.

Due Date: August 27th

Weeks: 33 weeks

Doctor Report: Everything looks good.  Take it easy, no strenuous activity (only light walking and light weights), stay within an hour of the metro.  Otherwise, the activity this past weekend shouldn't cause any further complications or preterm labor.

Gender: BOY

Name: First name has been decided, a middle name has not.

Total Weight Gain: Not even looking anymore.

Miss Anything: Fitting into clothes?? At home I don't even care anymore.

Best Moment this Week: Relief after contractions stopped that he will not be making an appearance this early!!

Labor Signs:  Thank god they have subsided.

Belly Button in or out: Completely flat

Maternity Clothes: And anything that fits, this is getting more interesting...

Sleep: Waking often.  This guy only lets me sleep on my left side or kicks and kicks until I flip back over.  I get it!! :)

Food: Slowly starting to eat again.

Exercise: I guess I'm out.  See how long I can sit still...

Pregnancy Symptoms: Nothing new.

Happy or Moody: Pretty average most of the time.

Movement: Thank goodness he's a mover.  Never any doubt that he wasn't ok in there during our scare this weekend.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Not being so worried all the time...

4th of July continued....

Maternity triage trip #1... puke bucket, ice chips and uncomfortable chairs

4th of July didn't exactly go as planned.  Around 4-5pm on Saturday afternoon I started feeling nauseous and queasy.  Thought I was hungry so tried eating a couple chips.  Didn't help, so I went in the camper and laid down for awhile.

About 6-7pm I started throwing up.  Called the nurse hotline. She said to try taking small sips of water every 20 minutes.  If I wasn't keeping that down I would need to be seen.  Small sips of water weren't staying down.  About 9:30 Kris finally convinced me we either needed to head for home or to the hospital (about an hour out from DSM).  We put PK to bed in the camper, had my brother watch him and took off.  Didn't even make it up the hill out of the campground before we had to empty my bucket.  I didn't think we were going to make it.  It was an awful drive.  The throwing up kept getting worse so we went straight to the hospital.  Along the way we saw various fireworks shows.

Got checked into maternity triage around 11pm.  Around midnight they gave me some Zofran to stop the nausea.  At the same time I also received an IV of fluid.  Took about an hour for that to fully enter my system.  I was hooked up to two monitors, one for the baby's heart-rate and one for contractions.  At that point they said I was having contractions about two minutes apart but I couldn't really feel them due to my stomach hurting so much.  They said that the IV would help with the contractions and calm my uterus down.  It didn't.  So they ran another test that would show whether my body was preparing to give birth in the next two weeks or not.  We were told we would have to wait up to two hours for the results.  At the same time they also ran some blood work.  Everything came back normal and negative on having a baby in the next two weeks!

However, the contractions were still two minutes apart.  They gave me a shot that was supposed to stop them.  Waited another hour.  It didn't work.  At 3:30am they told us we could go home and rest or continue to lay there on the uncomfortable triage bed for another couple hours and be poked every 15 minutes.  I chose to come home.  Told us to come back if the contractions got worse to the point where you couldn't carry on a conversation.

We got home about 4am, climbed into bed and tried sleeping.  I was too anxious/exhausted to sleep.  Finally fell asleep for good around 8am.  We woke up around noon and I started tracking contractions again.  Two minutes apart.  And felt stronger than when we left the hospital.  Great.

Called the doctor again.  Their remedy was to over hydrate yourself and lay on your left side for an hour.  After trying that the contractions were down to about every 10-15 minutes.  This seemed to satisfy my husband and mom enough to not make me go in again.

Spent Monday relaxing/healing.  The muscles from throwing up on top of normal pregnancy pains hurt pretty bad.  But thankfully no further contractions on Monday and no baby!!

4th of July

At PK's school they had a parade.  All classes participated and they were to walk around the block with their class.  Once PK saw us that was the end of that.  He didn't walk in the parade.  But did have fun wearing his glitter filled hat and shaking his noise maker for us later.

After the parade we went to Rock Creek State Park camping.  It was a beautiful campground.  Small lake, lots of sites.  Bugs weren't too bad.

On the 4th the boys rented a fishing boat.  The little guys got to go out for about an hour in the morning.  That was about enough for them.  Didn't catch any fish but sounded like they had a good time.
